Exploring with Ink & Watercolor

I've had a little more free time lately to experiment with some of my favorite supplies! Last night, I created a few colorful, abstract studies. I built up layers of washes using  Acrylics, Watercolor, &  India Ink. Each act a little different of the paper. I may create a blog soon going more into detail with what you can achieve with each!

My Favorite Supplies:
Golden High Flow Acrylics
Dr. Martin Bombay India Ink
White Goauche (or watered-down acyrlic)
Sumi Ink Brushes
Toothbrushes (for splatter!)
Windsor Newton Watercolor Pan Set

I painted these on Precut 5X7 Watercolor Paper..that way they're all set to be framed! & I also enjoy working on a smaller size to experiment..that way I can work on three pieces at once and not get bored while allowing the others to dry.

I also experimented with adding some gel bead texture..that gave an interesting texture.

You can also achieve interesting effects when splattering Rubbing Alcohol (Isopropyl 91%) on the wet paint!  After (patiently...) allowing the pieces to dry, I sometimes splatter white paint and add details with iridescent colors for a cosmic look.
