I have been pretty busy with illustrating "Howie" but I still sketch a lot in the evening during my free time. Sketching and drawing are probably my favorite part of the artistic process...I'm not sure exactly what it is..maybe it's how you can see the progress and how the artist builds up the lines. I love looking through my old sketchbooks and other artists as well. I always thought it would be cool to have a collaborative art show or publish a book and showcased sketchbooks of many artists. Alright, well here are my sketches over the past few weeks! Hope you enjoy!
Howie Saves the Hungabirds Concept Art
Here are some concept artwork and sketches for Howie Saves the Hungabirds written by children's book author Sandy Baker! It's my first book I have gotten the chance to Illustrate and it's been such an enjoyable project to work on! Now that I have nearly 1/2 of the originals finished...it's such a great feeling seeing the characters develop and come to life. I hope you enjoy...there will be more to come! & please check out Ms. Sandy's blog!
Howie Saves the Hungabirds
I am currently illustrating my first children's book titled Howie Saves the Hungabirds written by Sandy Baker! Check out Sandy's blog to see a few illustrations I've created so far & learn a little about Hummingbirds!
Doodlers Anonymous Coloring Book Submission
Here is my submissions for Doodle's Anonymous' annual coloring book they create each year. Only around 60 artists are chosen and I hope I am one of them! It was a lot of fun working on this project...I was struggling at first because I kept trying to sketch something out..I then decided to just start "doodling" and this is what came out! :)
Carie's Stories (Colored)
So I finally got around to adding color to my illustration titled Carie's Stories! The illustration depicts my sister, Carie surrounded by imagery of her favorite stories. From left to right...Ramona Flowers (Scott Pilgrim), Howl's Moving Castle, Airship (Castle In the Sky), The Shire (The Hobbit), Hogwarts(Harry Potter), Nobody Owens (The Graveyard Book), Dany's Dragon Eggs (Game of Thrones), Yuki & Kyo (Fruits Basket), Kazul (Dealing with Dragons). Everything is surrounded by the Two Trees of Valinor (The Silmarillion).
Here are a few details:
hot air balloon
Hi Everyone! Here is a new whimsical illustration I finished last night. I've done a few Hot Air Balloon drawings before and always loved the theme. I experimented with Ink, watercolor and prismacolor. I also got the chance to try out my new Epson scanner...which I love!
I also wanted to thank everyone who has followed my blog so far! I reached over 100 followers since starting this blog this past summer! Thanks so much!

Ramona
So, I've been pretty busy lately with some new projects!! (that I will post about sometime soon in the next few week!) But I wanted to update my blog and share an artwork I did last year of Ramona Flowers for the Scott Pilgrim series. It's a really great graphic novel if anyone is interested AND they are now releasing hard back colored versions of the book! John (my fiancé) and I have bought two of them so far and they're really awesome! Definitely recommend them if, especially if you were a fan of the movie.
